External Exceptions allows you to manage your own exceptions list.  This is done by adding 1 or more files to Blockade that contain a list of domains in which you would like to add as exceptions to the Blocklist.  These files are placed in the external folder.  They can have any name as long as the extension is .exc

WINDOWS:

On Windows, Blockade Server will looks for External Exceptions files in the following location:

%SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\Metiix\Blockade\data\external

So the full filepath of an External Exceptions file might look like this as an example:

C:\>ProgramData\Metiix\Blockade\data\external\source.exc

Linux:

On Linux, Blockade Server will looks for External Exceptions files in the following location:

/usr/local/var/blockade/data/external

So the full filepath of an External Exceptions file might look like this as an example:

/usr/local/var/blockade/data/external/source.exc

The contents of file(s) should only contain domains lists with each domain on a separate line.  Comments are allowed by prefixing the line with a '#'.

Here is an External Exceptions file example:

# External Blocklist
# Ads
ads.relay.com
ads1.relay.com
ads2.relay.com
# Trackers
tracker.relay.com
tracker1.relay.com
tracker2.relay.com

Once the contents of the file(s) have been modified, the Blockade service/process must be restarted for the new changes to take affect.

Note:  Blockade Server processes each domain only once.  This means that while there may be duplicate domains in any of the External Exceptions files, there will only be one within the External Exceptions list that Blockade Server uses to match DNS queries against.
