The idea behind the Metiix Cloud storage is to provide another recovery point should your local storage fail to recover your missing files. We follow industry-wide practices including Raid-5 volumes as well as hot-spares. The whole concept is to provide another destination for your data that resides outside of your environment in the case of a localized disaster.
