Metiix Virtual allows you to seed your baseline data to an off-site target Core server. The data in the seeding archive is compressed, encrypted, and de-duplicated. Seeding a second off site Core local is useful if the Cores are separated by slow or highly latent links.

The seeding process can happen Core to Core, or external devices may be used such as USB, iSCSI, eSATA, etc. If the total size of the archive to be seeded is larger than the space available on the external or removable device, the initial seed may be spread over multiple devices.

During the seeding process backups do not need to be discontinued. Incremental backups (recovery points) are replicated to the target site (2nd Core) while the seeding process takes place. Once the seeding data is loaded onto the target (2nd) Core, any previously replicated incremental recovery points are automatically synchronized.
